Overview

Usage

Retardan®-200 L provides excellent performance in the control and adjustment of setting times and workability with calcium sulphate based binders.
The product is especially suitable for the following applications:
  • Production of gypsum boards (plasterboards / wallboards), fibreboards,
  • partition panels, ceiling tiles & gypsum blocks

Composition

Aqueous solution of modified amino acid

Shelf life

12 months shelf life from date of production if stored properly in undamaged, unopened, original sealed packaging.

Storage conditions

Store in a dry place and protect from sunlight. Recommended storage temperature +5°C to a maximum of 40°C. The product can freeze at very low temperatures. After thawing and stirring, it can be used without restrictions. Use clean tanks and containers for decanting purposes.

Application

Compatibility

Retardan®-200 L may be combined with many other Sika products and most commonly used gypsum additives including superplasticizers, foaming agents / defoamers and stabilizers. In these combinations i.e. with Sika ViscoCrete superplasticizers, additional improvements in flow and setting-time adjustment can also be achieved.

Dispensing

Retardan®-200 L is added to the gauging water. When used in very low dosages (i.e. during gypsum board production), Retardan®-200 L may also be pre-diluted in water for easier control of the dosing. Ensure that the water is not contaiminated and sufficient preservation agent is added. Please contact our Technical Services Department for any additional information and assistance.

Recommended dosage

Typical dosage range in gypsum board production: 0.003 - 0.03 % by weight of binder. Differences in calcium sulfate binder type, raw material sources, calcining methods, age and storage conditions of the binder and other conditions and factors at the plant and/or on-site can also influence the setting time of gypsum binders and therefore the dosage requirements of Retardan®-200 L.
