Overview

Usage

Retardan®-2010 L provides excellent performance in the adjustment of setting time and workability of calcium sulphate based binders. The product is especially suitable for the following application fields:
  • Fabrication of gypsum boards (plasterboards / wallboards), fibreboards, partition panels, ceiling tiles & gypsum blocks
  • Ready-mix production of floor screeds & self-leveling screeds based on calcium sulphate binders

  • Allows the setting-time adjustment of the binder slurry to the needs of the manufacturing process

Composition

Aqueous solution of modified amino acid 

Shelf life

12 months shelf life from date of production if stored properly in undamaged, unopened, original sealed packaging.

Storage conditions

Storage at temperatures between 0 °C and 40 °C. Protect from direct sunlight, frost and contamination. Use clean drums/containers when delivered in bulk.

Application

Compatibility

Retardan®-2010 L may be combined with many other Sika products as well as with most commonly used gypsum additives, like superplasticizer, foaming agent/ defoamer and stabilizer. In combination i.e. with Sika® ViscoCrete® superplasticizer improvements in flowability and setting-time adjustment may be achieved.
Note: Always conduct trials before combining products in specific mixes and contact our technical service for information about specific combinations with Sika® products.

Dispensing

Retardan®-2010 L is added to the gauging water. When used in very low dosage (i.e. during gypsum board production), Retardan®-2010 L may be pre-dissolved in pure water for easier dosing. Please contact our technical service for more information and assistance.

Recommended dosage

Typical dosage range in gypsum board production: 0.03 - 0.3 % by weight of binder. Differences in calcium sulfate binder type, raw material sources, calcining methods, age and storage conditions of the binder and other individual parameters at the plant and/or job site can influence the setting time of gypsum binders and therefore the dosage of Retardan®-2010 L.
