SikaCor® Wash

Surfactant solution for surface cleaning

SikaCor® Wash is a highly efficient, surface-active, aqueous cleaning agent. This alkaline cleaning agent is VOC-free and biodegradable (in accordance with OECD guideline).

Usage

SikaCor® Wash is used for the intensive cleaning of metallic (e.g. galvanised, aluminium) or coated surfaces which have been contaminated with hardly watersoluble, oily, greasy substances or which have been exposed to weather. On suspicion of invisible contaminants we recommend to carry out tests according to DIN/TR 55684:2021-01. Not suitable for removal of adhered cement and concrete deposits or corrosion products.

Theoretical:

Approx. 100 - 150 g/m2 in low-pressure spray process (dilution ratio 1 : 5)

Approx. 200 - 300 g/m2 in high-pressure spray process (dilution ratio 1 : 20)

The consumption depends on several factors and may differ from the theoretical values.
Application steps

MIXING

For use diluted with water to a ratio of 1 : 5 up to a maximum of 1 : 20.

APPLICATION

Application is carried out in three steps:

  1. Remove heavily dirt and contaminants from surface with high-pressure hot water cleaning (water temperature approx. + 80°C, pressure 150 bar).
  2. Spray on SikaCor® Wash in diluted form and leave to act for about 10 minutes. If it dries prematurely (sun, wind), respray.
  3. Rinse off with high-pressure hot water cleaning (water temperature approx. + 80°C, pressure 150 bar).

The cleaned surface must be absolutely dry before coating.


High-pressure spraying process:

  • SikaCor® Wash is either added to the cleaning agent tank of the highpressure cleaner in undiluted form (note the adding options, dilution ratio may not exceed 1 : 20 ) or is pumped directly out of a supply container in diluted form
  • During spraying, the pressure must be reduced to the equipment minimum (20 - 30 bar)
  • Use a flat or variable nozzle
    (minimum spray angle 40°, reduce nozzle size to equipment-specific minimum)
  • If cleaning agent feed rate is too high, use correspondingly variable high pressure equipment


Low-pressure spray process:

  • Alternatively a pump spray device can be used (e.g. 10 l volume, 6 bar overpressure)
  • Fill with SikaCor® Wash diluted to ratio of 1 : 5
